Cik Sharifah Alliana read law at the University of Nottingham where she obtained both her Bachelors in Law degree and Masters in Law (International Law) degree. A member of the Inns of Court (Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn), she was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2012. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2013 after completing her pupillage under the tutelage of one of Malaysia’s leading civil rights advocate, Datuk Malik Imtiaz Sarwar of Messrs Malik Imtiaz Sarwar. She has been practising as Advocate & Solicitor since 2013.

In September 2013, she joined Messrs Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong as an Associate in the Banking Litigation department. In 2016, she joined the Corporate and Commercial Litigation team under the purview of Mr. Wong Hok Mun, assisting him in a number of complex and high-profile cases as well as leading a number of her own cases. Subsequently, in June 2017, she was promoted to Senior Associate.

Exposed to a wide range of legal practice areas, she has experience in banking litigation, insurance litigation, corporate and commercial litigation, construction adjudication, debt recovery, arbitration and tenancy dispute to name a few.

She has appeared as both lead counsel and co-counsel from the Magistrate’s Court up to the Federal Court. She was involved in several notable & reputable cases which include Koike (M) Sdn Bhd v. CIMB Bank Berhad, a case involving the wrongful remittance of money via the SWIFT system, and CIMB Bank Berhad v. Anthony Lawrence Bourke & Anor, a landmark Federal Court’s decision involving the application and interpretation of exclusion clauses. She is also well versed and experienced in the adjudication process vis-à-vis the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (“CIPAA 2012”).

In addition to the above, she is also experienced in reviewing, drafting and advising on agreements, such as sale and purchase agreements and other legal documents ie. loan. She has also conducted legal training sessions for corporate clients which objective was to improve their understanding of the basic legalities associated with several widely encountered issues such as non-compliance with an injunction or garnishee order.
